Govt to set up Information Storage Centre

The Ministry of Information and Communications is all set to establish an ‘Information Storage Centre’ in the Department of Information (DoI) as part of the government’s attempt to systematically manage the government information. At a meet the press programme organized in the Ministry today, Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki said that all the government information would be centralized from this move. He said that Right to Information would be promoted and the Centre would have the government documents collected them from the post offices. Minister Karki said process to provide internet connectivity service in the districts of Karnali has been begun adding that the commodities should be availed along with the services. He also informed that the remittance from foreign nations, social allowance and license renew of the FM stations would be from the postal office. Saying that knowledge should be transferred to the new generation, Minister Karki urged all the ministries to disseminate the information to the people in a transparent manner. During the programme, Director General of DoI Bir Bahadur Rai pledged to organize regular press meet to share the activities of different ministries to the general public.
