Ropeway comes into operation for the first time in Bajura
Gravity Ropeway has come into operation at Bajura district for the first time. The ropeway has come into service at Badimali Municiaplity 5 and 6 of the district in western Nepal. Chairman of Consumer Committee, Prem Saud of said that the ropeway has been brought into operation in the district for the easy transportation of cash crops including potatoes and buckwheat that were planted by the local residents of Badimali Municipality 5 and 6. As the ropeway came into operation, locals of Badimali Municipality 5 and 6 have become delighted thinking now they can transport or supply their crops easily. In a joint coordination of District Agriculture Development Office and with a financial support of the Development Project under Practical Action Human Resources Center, ropeway has been brought into operation in the district for the first time. It also has been said that after the ropeway came into operation, more than 204 households of Mana and Rila of Badimala Municipality- 6 have been benefited. Earlier there were no means of transportation, so that they could not transport their goods to the market for selling. As a result, even their cereals they had planted used to decay in fields or they were forced to feed it to their cattle. With the construction of the ropeway, the local are elated. In the contribution of about Rs 719,000 rupees of Consumers Committee and with the support of Rs 186,5000 rupees by Human Resources Center Development Project’s the ropeway has came into operation informed, Nir Bahadur Shahi, Chairman of Consumers Committee. The height of ropeway is 900 meters.
